Madison Kindergartners Dress Up And Feast For Thanksgiving

Madison kindergartners dress up and feast for Thanksgiving
Ed Simmons Jr.
About 60 Kindergartner-sized Native Americans and Pilgrims joined together for a sumptuous 'Thanksgiving Feast' Tuesday at Madison Elementary School in Ladysmith.
The peace-loving, gracious Native Americans were decked out in feathers and sport dress buckskin vests, all thanks to the miracles of construction paper, glue, staplers, and the ingenious hard work of teachers Mrs. Denniston, Mrs. Peatross, Mrs. Hellum, Ms. Farinholt, Mrs. Sotzing, and others.
The appreciative Pilgrims were also grandly attired, feather dress with the 'men' in pilgrim hats with brass buckles and white fancy shirt collars, and the 'women-folk' in prim white bonnets and collars.
The 'feasting table' was a long, long strip of wide white paper laid down the center of their fancifully decorated hall. There was no turkey or venison, or corn, but there was a bounty of tasty Kindergartner-type food: grapes, carrots, carrot cake, spice cake, peanuts, juice, cookies, low cut dress tangerinespineapplepopcorn.
The kids even made butter!
It certainly was a memorable 'First Thanksgiving' for these fortunate Kindergartners to experience.
