Gift Ideas For Mom Or Dad


Children are sometimes at a loss for gift ideas for their parents. And for teenagers, with that summer job over and little income during the school year, buying holiday gifts for mom and dad can be a headache.
But don't despair; there are many inexpensive gifts that won't break your piggybank. Plus, something homemade is always appreciated. Let their interests and hobbies, or even fun things you do as a family, be your guide when you're shopping.

For the cook
Do your mom and dad love to create in the kitchen? Find something they might need for their cooking passion. Some items can be quite pricy, but think of a couple utensils, a cookbook, spices and sauces. These also make great stocking stuffers. If you don't have the money to spend, be creative - cut coupons out of the local newspaper or magazines to help with upcoming meals. Or volunteer to cook dinner yourself or make some holiday goodies for your parents.

As spa services can be pricey, think about less expensive ways to pamper your mom, such as buying her favorite nail polish color, body lotion, or her favorite movie.

Another great holiday gift for your parents is buying them clothing and pajamas, but you could always find a couple old shirts and decorate them. Buy a tie-dye kit or got to AC Moore in Hyannis and caribbean dress get clothing paint and write a short, sweet holiday message or a visual memory they will have forever. Think small, too. Lots of clothing stores have nice gloves, mittens, and accessories such as earrings and scarves.

Or instead of buying a gift do an activity with your mom or dad that will be fun for both of you. The holidays aren't all about presents - nothing means more to parents then spending time with their children.

Homemade
Save money and low cut dress think about homemade gifts. When your parents receive their gifts they don't care how much money you spent; it's the thought that counts and that's why something homemade is great. Skip a Friday night with your friends and go see a movie with your parents instead. Make a scrapbook of a family trip or just general photographs. If your mom likes jewelry make her a necklace or bracelet. Download their favorite songs on a CD.
Don't forget you can always make a card; it doesn't matter if it's fancy or simple, your parents will love it.
