It's Makeover Time!
Tonight's episode of NBC' Biggest Loser: Families is a Reality TV Lovers Buffet. We have Christian Siriano, winner of Project Runway Season 4, our own Tyra Banks of American's Next Top Model and the Tyra Banks Show fame and of course our favorite hostess Alison Sweeney who is also of Days of Our Lives fame! What more could we ask for! Well, makeovers of the Biggest Loser contestants, of course!
The show opens with a quick recap of the final five and their weight loss. It always surprises me when they show how the contestants looked at the beginning and morph them into how they look now. Anyway, back in the elimination room we see Alison telling them that they are going for New York City to have the makeover of their lives and that they will be on the Tyra Banks Show. Our contestants have a ride through New York and end up at the Stuart Hirsch Salon for their first stop of the makeover. Vicky worries how Brady will take it with her as a redhead.
On to Macy's where our contestants meet up with Christian Siriano. Heba rushes forward, grabs Christian and spins him in the air. The others give him a discreet hug, except Ed to limits his excitement to a handshake. Christian talks to them about how much they have lost and what they would like to wear. He tells them to run out there, have fun and pull some things. Back first is Heba, Christian takes the print dress that she picked out and replaced it with a size 14 black dress (down from a size 24). Christian agrees with Heba that now they know the shape of the dress she can wear, they will go from black to something brighter. Renee tries on a print dress, and is proud that she can wear something that doesn't look so old.
Time for a visit to the Tyra Show. I could be wrong, but that sure looks like Tabitha from Sheer Genius fame sitting with Tyra. Anyway, Tyra introduces Michelle wearing a red-violet dress and reveals that to date, Michelle has lost 66 pounds, then turns the discussion to her relationship with her mother. He is surprised by her father, who runs to her, hugs her and cries. He says he loves Michelle and has missed her and is so happy she is going to be ok.
Next up is Renee wearing a black low cut dress with a ruffled fringe around the hem. Her hair has been cut and she is looking great. She tells Tyra she has lost 68 pounds. Tyra asks how she feels about going through this with her daughter. Renee says it is the greatest gift to go through this together. She says she misses her husband the most and then of course, Tyra brings out her husband. Michelle says when she saw him her heart leapt from her chest. Her husband says he has missed her comfort, her greatness and her beauty. He says that he is overwhelmed at how beautiful she looks.
Next up is Vicky.She is wearing a black v-neck dress with a belted waist. Her hair is a very nice reddish brown. She tells Tyra she has lost 66 pounds. She says she misses her husband so much and her sister Ginny... who comes out and gives her a hug. Ginny says that her sister looks good with the red hair, that she looks amazing, like a movie star.
Tyra introduces Heba. Heba is wearing a bright red sleeveless dress. Her hair has been cut above her shoulders. She tells us she has lost 70 pounds. Tyra asks her about her brother. Heba says that her brother told her if she lost at least 60 pounds on the show, he would take her on a trip anywhere she wants to go. She says she has lost the 60 pounds and he obviously doesn't know yet... enter, Heba's brother Hisham. She is very shocked because she has not seen anyone from her family in so long. Hisham says he hopes she makes it to the end, no one deserves it more than Heba.
Finally, we move on to Ed. Ed is wearing jeans, a dark striped shirt and jacket. Tyra likes his entrance. Tyra asks him about his dad. Ed's dad comes out and says it is wonderful to see him and the progress he has made. Ed says his dad is the most important man in this life.
Backstage, Christian has a chat with everyone and tells them that Macy's is giving them all a $1000 gift card. He hands them out, blows some kisses and leaves them with their family members. Ed suggests they head to Times Square and blow it out for the evening... of course there in the Square is Bob and Jillian on the big screen, to remind them that tomorrow morning they have all day to walk six miles around Central Park, then one mile across the Brooklyn Bridge, and back, and back again... Bob says there is plenty they can be doing, that scale is waiting from them... tick tock tick tock...
The next morning they are off to the brand new 24-Hour Fitness in New York where Heba, Vicky and Ed and their family members work out. Renee and her husband run the Brooklyn Bridge. Michelle and her dad head off to Central Park. She races her father up the stairs and to his surprise, beats him. They talk about how she and her mother are working out their problems. Her father tells her she has come back wiser and stronger as a woman.
Our contestants arrive back at the ranch still in the clothes they wore on the Tyra Show. Jillian is blown away at how pretty they look, but brings them back to reality with a reminder that there are only two more weigh-ins and one coming up immediately. She says she doesn't care about makeovers, she only cares that their a gets smaller. She says as gorgeous as they look, they need to get back to working out.
Vicky is in the gym alone, working out and talking about her plan to kick butt this week to ensure she doesn't fall below the yellow line. .
The Challenge
Alison greets our final five, telling them that they all look wonderful and the trick now is to stay looking good under pressure. Tonight's challenge will be to keep the pressure on yourself or you may not succeed. There is a box suspended 15 feet above the water. They must wedge themselves in the glass boxes and stay as long as they can. The winner will win a two week trip for two to the Fitness Ridge Resort and Spa in St. George, Utah. Into their boxes and the challenge begins. Vicky is trying to get comfortable, and sits down. Alison tells her she has to drop down. Vicky says she can't do it and says she thinks she is going to vomit. Ten minutes later she is still saying she can't do it. Heba begins to struggle. She says Michelle looks like it is her second job. Heba jumps in, Vicky is still sitting on the edge of the box. Alison tells her there is only one way down. Ed slips and goes into the water. Michelle tells Renee she will not buy her another handbag. After 32 minutes, Renee drops leaving Michelle as the winner of the challenge. Michelle smiles and drops in the water! Vicky is still sitting on the edge of the box refusing to jump into the water. Alison tells her they are waiting for her and she replies that they will be waiting a long time... Heba tries to coax her down. Vicky says she can't let go. Alison tells her she has to stop using the word can't because that is what got her where she is. Ed goes back in the water and they all cheer and coax her to come down. Finally, Vicky lets go and jumps in the water. Alison tells Vicky she hopes she is proud because she proved she could do it. Alison bids them good night.
The next day Bob finds out that Michelle won the challenge. Vicky tells him how she could not jump and doesn't understand what it was. Bob says it was because she needed someone there that she trusted and she needs to learn to trust herself. Vicky says she always second-guesses her reactions.
On to the last chance workout. Bob says this workout will be sweat, sweat, sweat. He tells Vicky she has worked too hard to have someone take this from her. Ed works out until he is dripping sweat. Heba works out telling herself she is proud of herself. Bob says it is his job to get them over their self-doubt.
Jillian is working with Michelle and Renee. They both know that they can not afford to fall below the yellow and they are inspired by the fact that Jillian believes in them. Jillian says she is going to start removing body parts... she figures an arm is about 5 pounds. She smiles and says maybe they'll get some weight off with Michelle's haircut.
The Weigh-In
Our contestants arrive for the weigh-in. Alison tells them that they are only two weigh-ins away from the prize. Two families have managed to make it this far together. As Vicky is the last solo player, she is to weigh in first.
Heba -7 pounds 3.13%
Michelle -5 pounds 2.84%
Vicky -4 pounds 2.22%
Renee -4 pounds 2.01% (below the yellow line)
Ed -3 pounds 1.19% (below the yellow line)
Bob says it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see who is going home because the Blue Team has the numbers. Renee wells up in tears and says she doesn't want the dream to end tonight. Alison says unfortunately one of the families will be broken up tonight. She asks them to follow her to the elimination room. Renee arrives in the elimination room with just a little hope that Vicky may take the chance and vote Ed off because he has a lot to lose.
The Elimination
Alison gives Ed and Renee a chance to speak. Ed says he fought really hard to get back to the ranch and he and Heba have done everything together since the day they met. He says he wants to be there as her support system. Renee says for her and banded bottom dress Michelle it has been a journey of a lifetime and both started together and wanted to finish together. She says it is a dream come true and it is hard to see that dream come to an end.
Michelle votes Ed.
Heba votes Renee.
Vicky votes Renee.
Vicky tells Renee she is a beautiful woman and she was honored to compete against her. She says it was made easier by the glow she had when she was with her husband in New York. Renee says the experience was above and beyond what she envisioned. They got to rebuild their relationship and change their lives together. She says she may not be the Biggest Loser, but she is the biggest winner for being there. Michelle says they have grown into a new relationship and they will love each other right where they are at and she is truly blessed to have her as a mother. Renee says she loves her and is so proud of her. She tells her to win this for herself and no one else. Alison tells Renee she is not the Biggest Loser, but she has definitely won her daughter's heart and all of theirs. She congratulates the final four. She tells them there will not be time to rest this week. Alison says they all know what a last chance work out is, but next week will be their last chance weigh in.
Renee says the hardest part of leaving is leaving Michelle behind. She says the next time we see her she will not look like Michelle's mom... she will look like Michelle's younger sister. We catch up with Renee back in Texas looking fabulous! She goes to her church where she was invited to be on the show. She is presented to the audience with cheers and a standing ovation! Her daughter Mia says knowing that she is happy makes her happy. Her daughter Drea says she was beautiful and sport dress she had a glow about her. Michelle says she learned a lot of lessons along the way. It's never to late, don't ever give up, love never fails!
Renee has lost a total of 95 pounds and low cut dress is doing public speaking, inspiring others to lose weight. She is also leading a fitness class at work. Renee says Biggest Loser didn't just change her life, it gave her life back. Happy Birthday Renee! Great Job!
